Surrender

If you have a cat you can no longer care for, we may be able to help.

OUR SHELTER IS CURRENTLY AT CAPACITY

We are currently housing the maximum number of cats we are able to.
Before bringing in a cat to surrender, please call us for info on other local options, or to place the cat on our waitlist, so we can notify you when space frees up.

Surrender Process

To begin the surrender process, fill out an intake form at the shelter. At this time, the staff will intake the cat(s), which involves assessing them for health and shelter eligibility, weighing them, as well as deworming and vaccinating if necessary.

Vaccinations are required unless proof of up-to-date vaccination is provided. Vaccines given take approximately 2 weeks to give a cat full immunity. After 2 weeks we will try to take them into the shelter depending on space. All dates are approximated, and have no guarantee of space.

NOTE: Due to high population, and health risk to the other cats we are unable to take all surrenders on the same day as intake.

Surrender Fees

All cats brought into the shelter with the intent to leave them in our care permanently constitutes a surrender.

Vaccinated surrender: $20
IMPORTANT! You must furnish current proof of vaccine within the last year.

Unvaccinated surrender: $30

Multiple strays surrender: When surrendering three or more cats at the same time, the first two are normal price, and the rest are $10 each.

NOTE: For litters, please contact staff for a quote.

FAQ

I have 2 week old kittens, what now?
We cannot take kittens this young because we do not have staff onsite overnight to provide feedings. We rely on our network of fosters to help us in these cases, but we may not have any available. We are always accepting fostering volunteers.

This cat is in bad shape, what now?
We do not have a vet onsite to diagnose and treat more serious illnesses and injuries and may not have the resources to care for the cat.

I don’t have the money to surrender these strays.
We do our best to keep things low-cost to help the community. Paying the fee helps us keep the shelter running so we can care for as many cats as possible. Paying the fees helps keep them low for the community.
